Cardinal Griffin Students Celebrate a Successful Set of GCSE Results!
Cardinal Griffin Catholic College is celebrating a successful set of Level 2 results, with students achieving some impressive grades across a range of subjects.
Some particularly amazing achievements came from the following students:
- Niamh Bone who attained two Distinction* grades, three grade 7s and two grade 8s;
- Emma Child who achieved four grade 9s and four grade 8s;
- Matteo Melillo who achieved grade 7s and grade 8s across various subjects;
- Gursharan Shergill who attained two Distinction* grades, two grade 9s and two grade 8s, and
- Ellie-Mai Weaver who achieved two grade 9s and four grade 8s.
Of his results, Matteo said that he had ‘achieved way better than he had ever hoped for’ and that he was ‘particularly happy with the grade 8 in English Language’. Emma commented that she had ‘felt really supported’ by her teachers and that her favourite subjects had been English and history, as these had given her the ‘opportunity to consider alternative viewpoints’.
Mrs Hermione Gibson, Headteacher, said: "2023 has been a hugely successful year for Cardinal Griffin Catholic College in so many ways. We were rated as 'Good' by Ofsted in March 2023. The inspectors praised our Leadership and Management, with particular reference to the vision, drive and strategic direction in place for improvement. We are so proud of this cohort, and their teaching staff, as they are the first group of GCSE students to receive grades via full examinations, with no prior release information, since 2019!
I would like to thank all of the teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedication in order to provide an excellent learning experience for our students, and I would also like to thank the parents who have supported us throughout this time. I wish the students the very best in the next phase of their journey, whether that be at Cardinal Griffin Sixth Form or a level 3 apprenticeship.
We are looking forward to welcoming our Sixth Form students here at Cardinal Griffin on the 5th September 2023. Students joining Cardinal Griffin have been engaged with a thorough transition programme, including taster sessions and transitional studies aimed at bridging the gap from GCSE studies to their chosen KS5 curriculum. Exciting times are ahead!"
We wish all of our students the very best of luck on the next step of their learning journeys.
