Open Evening 2021
We are delighted to announce the arrangements for our Open Evening 2021!
AND…our virtual Open Evening….AND our in person Tours of the College!
Our Open Evening will take place on Thursday 30th September. There will be two time slots for arrival 6:00pm or 7:15pm. We will also be operating a Fast-track booking system for parents to pre-register to avoid queuing at the event! Read on for more information…
Our staff are busy preparing for your visit and are really excited to meet all the primary school children and parents who are considering Cardinal Griffin Catholic College as their Secondary School. We will be aiming to show you what the College is like when in operation, and you will also have a chance to hear from the Headteacher and have a chance to tour the College site and talk with existing students about their time in the College. We want you to experience the warm welcome of our staff and pupils and see first-hand the care, teaching and joy our pupils experience on a day to day basis. Of course you will see some great work taking place, but you will also see the other things that contribute to the experience of our children - the food they eat, the clubs they participate in, the pastoral support they receive.... We want to talk to you about our academic excellence, but we also want our students to talk to you about their experiences of being cared for, developed and supported in all aspects of their lives; and the things they get up to in the clubs and extra-curricular activities we run. We hope this will be a chance to get to know you, and for you to get to know us.
In order to manage numbers of people in the building and to try to minimise the risks of Covid19, this year we have decided that we will offer two time slots in which parents and their children can visit the College this year. The first time slot will be at 6pm to 7:15pm and the second 7:15pm to 8:30pm. During each time slot there will be three separate occasions to attend the Headteacher's talk which attendees will be able to book in advance. We would ask that parents arrive no more than 10 minutes before the stated start times, to avoid cross over in the building.
We will also be initiating a contactless fast-track entrance for visitors who pre-book to allow them to skip the queue and get in faster. In order to pre-book, visitors should visit https://forms.office.com/r/W5BHF0Svfs and complete the registration form with their details and the details of those in their party.
Once booking is completed, a booking confirmation will be sent out at least 72 hours before the event (or as soon as possible if booked later than 72 hours prior to the event). Please note the confirmation is not sent instantly. This will contain a bar code. Please either print, or have the barcode available for scanning on a mobile device - this will allow you to access the fast-track queue. On arrival, please follow signs for the fast-track entrance. Ushers will be available to direct you.
We are all very mindful of Covid19, and would ask that where you are able to, you wear a face mask while visiting us. Numbers will be managed and hand gel stations will be available on entry and exit.
We will also be offering a free return shuttle service from the car park of Cannock Leisure Centre to the College, departing the Leisure Centre carpark every ten minutes from 17:50. This is to help reduce traffic around Cardinal Way. However, if you live close enough to walk to the open evening, we would encourage you to do so.
Open evenings are one of the highlights of our school year and we are really looking forward to this year's events. Our primary pupils and parents are our VIP guests on the evening and our staff and pupils take great pride in showing the College to them every year. We very much hope you will join us this year and make use of our fast-track booking system to avoid the queues.
Virtual Open Evening
We will also be complementing this year's in person event with a virtual event in recognition that, because time is limited, you may not get to ask every question you would like to. Therefore, key staff will be available on Thursday 7th of October at 6pm via our YouTube channel for the virtual open evening. You can find our channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNyWI8YqCxZJclv2fC-PnJA or via the direct link to the event https://youtu.be/X7TM9TzPWLI A recording of this event will be available immediately following the event for anyone unable to watch live. We encourage parents and pupils to email their questions in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to respond to as many as possible on the evening. If, however, you question requires a personal response we will either call or email you with a response.
