Pupil Premium

Cardinal Griffin Catholic College is committed to narrowing gaps and ensuring that every pupil excels.  The 'Pupil Premium' is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. 

The proportion of students in receipt of Pupil Premium funding at Cardinal Griffin is broadly in line with the average for similar schools nationally. Whilst the exact number of students can vary across the year, here the current breakdown of Pupil Premium students in each year group:

Definition

The Pupil Premium is extra funding that is given to some students to support them in their education. 

 

Who can get it? 

  • Children that have received free school meals in the last 6 years. 
  • Looked after Children in the care of the local authority. 
  • Children who are no longer looked after by the local authority due to adoption, guardianship or residence order. 
  • Service children- for pupils who have parents serving in the armed forces.

Funding can help with the cost of:

  • Academic support- the provision of numeracy, literacy and support where needed. 
  • Support with equipment and uniform. 
  • Pastoral care to provide support for pupil premium students. 
  • Support with school trips, retreats and enrichment opportunities. 
  • Funding for training to support the development of teachers and teaching assistants so that they can provide outstanding teaching and support for our students.
